TERMS & CONDITIONS

2027

Effective January 1, 2027

1. ENROLLMENT, PLACEMENT & ACADEMIC LEVELS

Placement Test

All students with previous knowledge of Spanish are required to complete a placement test consisting of a written test and an oral interview.

Students are strongly encouraged to complete both parts before arrival, as this allows Peru Spanish Lima to determine the appropriate level and organize class placement in advance.

If a student has not completed the placement test before arrival, Peru Spanish Lima may offer a final opportunity to complete the assessment on the first day of the program, before joining regular classes. This may result in a delayed start to the student’s regular class schedule.

Complete beginners who have never studied Spanish before are not required to take a placement test and will be placed directly in the appropriate beginner-level class.

Students cannot select their own Spanish level. Final class placement is determined by Peru Spanish Lima based on the student’s written and oral assessment and academic criteria.

Level Progression

Students must pass the corresponding level test before progressing to the next Spanish level.

A minimum score of 75% is required to pass the first attempt.

Students who do not achieve the required score will have one additional opportunity to take the level test. Since the same assessment is used for the second attempt, a minimum score of 85% is required to pass.

Students who do not achieve the required score on the second attempt will remain at their current level until they meet the academic requirements to progress.

2. CLASSES & SCHEDULING

One academic lesson at Peru Spanish Lima consists of 50 minutes of instruction.

Group classes may be scheduled in the morning or afternoon, depending on the student’s Spanish level, program and class availability.

Peru Spanish Lima cannot guarantee a specific schedule unless it has been expressly confirmed as part of the booking.

Class schedules and teachers may vary depending on enrollment, student levels, academic progression and operational requirements.

Students are expected to attend classes regularly and arrive on time.

Classes missed due to student absence, illness or late arrival are not eligible for refund, credit or rescheduling.

If Peru Spanish Lima must cancel a scheduled class for reasons attributable to the school, an appropriate academic alternative will be provided.

Private Lessons

Private lessons may be rescheduled without charge when the student provides at least 24 hours’ notice.

Private lessons cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will be considered used and cannot be refunded, credited or rescheduled.

3. GROUP CLASSES & UPGRADES

Group programs require a minimum of 2 students at the same Spanish level to operate in their regular group format.

If only one student is enrolled at a particular level, Peru Spanish Lima reserves the right to upgrade the student to private instruction at no additional cost.

The total number of weekly lessons will be reduced by 50% to reflect the increased intensity and personalized nature of one-to-one instruction.

The applicable upgrade schedule is:

Intensive 20 → 10 private lessons per week
Intensive Plus 24 → 12 private lessons per week
Super Intensive 30 → 15 private lessons per week

Group composition may change from week to week as students enroll, complete their programs or progress to another level. Therefore, the applicable group or private format may also vary from one week to another.

4. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Peru Spanish Lima is closed on official Peruvian public holidays and class time will not be made up fully so students should account for holidays when booking their program.

For weeks with one public holiday, students enrolled in group programs will receive one additional Conversation Club lesson on each remaining class day of that week as holiday compensation.

For weeks with two public holidays, students enrolled in group programs will receive two additional Conversation Club lessons on each remaining class day of that week as holiday compensation.

Holiday compensation does not replace missed group lessons on a lesson-for-lesson basis.

No refunds or credits are issued for group lessons affected by official public holidays.

Private lessons falling on an official public holiday will be rescheduled at no additional cost.

Public holiday dates are subject to official government confirmation and may be updated if required.

5. BOOKING & PAYMENT

Booking Deposit

A US$100 non-refundable deposit per student is required for individual bookings made directly with Peru Spanish Lima.

The deposit confirms the student’s reservation for the booked course, accommodation and additional services, and will be deducted from the total booking amount.

Payment Deadline

The remaining balance must be paid in full at least 14 days before the program start date.

For bookings made within 14 days of the program start date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

If the required payment is not received by the applicable deadline, Peru Spanish Lima reserves the right to release the reservation.

Installment Payments

Installment payments may be available for individual bookings with a total value of US$700 or more, subject to approval by Peru Spanish Lima.

The US$100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance may be divided into agreed installments, with the payment amounts and due dates communicated to the student when the installment plan is confirmed.

Installment payments are interest-free. The full balance must be paid no later than 14 days before the program start date.

Students are responsible for ensuring that all payments are made by the agreed due dates and for any bank or transaction fees charged by their payment provider.

If an installment is not received by its due date, Peru Spanish Lima may send a payment reminder and allow a short grace period. Failure to communicate with the school or settle the outstanding balance may result in cancellation of the booking. In such cases, the applicable Cancellation & Credit Policy will apply.

Installment plans are not available for bookings made less than 14 days before the program start date.

Credits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a family member or friend upon written request and prior approval by Peru Spanish Lima.

Transferred credits remain subject to the original validity period and expiration date.

Changes to the remaining program may be considered upon request and are subject to availability and approval by Peru Spanish Lima.

No refund or credit will be issued for classes, accommodation or services already used or missed.

8. COURSE BREAKS & DESTINATION CHANGES

Course Breaks

Students enrolled in multi-week programs may request a break of a minimum of one full week during their program.

Planned breaks should preferably be communicated at the time of booking.

Once the program has started, new or modified break requests must be submitted in writing at least 14 days in advance.

During an approved break, both classes and accommodation may be paused. No course or accommodation fees will be charged for the approved break period.

All revised course and accommodation dates are subject to availability.

The student’s class level, schedule and group composition upon return may differ from those available before the break.

Destination Changes: Lima & Cusco

Students may request to transfer part of their program between Peru Spanish Lima and our partner school in Cusco, subject to availability.

Destination changes are offered free of charge and must be requested in writing at least 7 days before the requested transfer date.

As program, accommodation and service rates may differ between destinations, the booking will be recalculated according to the applicable rates at each location.

If the revised booking has a lower total value, the remaining balance will not be refunded in cash but may be used toward additional services available through Peru Spanish Lima or its partner school, such as private lessons, additional accommodation nights or airport transfers.

If the revised booking has a higher total value, the student must pay the difference before the transfer is confirmed.

9. ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation Placement

Accommodation is arranged according to availability and the information provided by the student at the time of booking.

To help Peru Spanish Lima arrange the most suitable accommodation option, students must provide accurate information regarding their age, Spanish level, dietary requirements, allergies and any other relevant accommodation needs or preferences.

Specific host families, apartments, room locations or individual features cannot be guaranteed unless expressly confirmed by Peru Spanish Lima.

Special Requests

Special accommodation requests, including dietary requirements, allergies or other specific needs, should be communicated at least 30 days before arrival.

Peru Spanish Lima will make reasonable efforts to accommodate special requests but cannot guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled.

Some requests may be subject to an additional charge, which will be communicated before confirmation.

Check-in & Arrival Information

Students who book accommodation must provide their complete arrival details at least 14 days before check-in so that arrival arrangements can be coordinated.

Unless a different check-in time has been expressly confirmed by Peru Spanish Lima, standard accommodation check-in is: Sunday between 16:00 and 18:00.

Students arriving outside this time must coordinate their check-in directly with Peru Spanish Lima in advance.

Alternative check-in arrangements are subject to host availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Although students may communicate with their host before arrival, all check-in arrangements and changes must be confirmed through Peru Spanish Lima.

Accommodation Rules

Students are expected to respect their host, other residents, neighbors and the accommodation property.

Students may not:

  • allow any person not included in the booking to stay overnight;
  • organize parties or gatherings that disturb the household, neighbors or other residents;
  • use the accommodation in a way that causes damage or disruption.

Daytime visitors are subject to the accommodation’s individual house rules and must be approved by the host in advance.

Students are responsible for:

  • lost keys;
  • damage caused by themselves or their visitors;
  • any costs resulting from misuse of the accommodation.

Serious or repeated breaches of accommodation rules may result in the student being required to leave the accommodation without refund or credit.

Students Under 18

Students under the age of 18 may only book Homestay accommodation, unless alternative accommodation has been expressly approved by Peru Spanish Lima as part of an organized group or special program.

10. AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Flight Information

Students who book an airport transfer must provide complete flight details, including arrival date, time, flight number, airline and origin, at least 7 days before arrival.

Students must inform Peru Spanish Lima as soon as possible of any flight changes, cancellations, rebookings or changes in arrival information.

Flight Delays

Flight delays do not affect the airport transfer service. The assigned driver will monitor the provided flight information and adjust the pickup time accordingly.

However, changes to the flight number, route or arrival date must be communicated to Peru Spanish Lima so the transfer can be updated.

Meeting the Driver

Upon arrival, students should carefully look for the assigned Peru Spanish Lima driver at the designated meeting point.

Students should not accept alternative taxi or transfer services offered at the airport while waiting for their arranged transfer.

If the student cannot locate the driver, they must contact the Peru Spanish Lima assistance number before leaving the airport or arranging alternative transportation.

If a student chooses to leave the airport using another taxi or transportation service without first contacting Peru Spanish Lima, the airport transfer will be considered a no-show and will not be eligible for refund or credit.

11. STUDENTS UNDER 18 & SUPERVISION

Students aged 16 or 17 may participate in adult Spanish programs with prior authorization from their parent or legal guardian.

Students under 18 participating in an adult program must submit a parental consent and liability waiver form before the program begins.

Adult programs do not include continuous supervision outside scheduled classes or organized activities. Peru Spanish Lima, its staff and accommodation hosts are not responsible for supervising students during their free time.

Students under 18 must provide valid emergency contact information, and parents or legal guardians must remain reachable during the student’s stay.

Kids, teen and organized group programs may include specific supervision, activity, transportation, accommodation and safety arrangements. These conditions will be communicated separately according to the program booked.

Where specific conditions have been agreed for an organized group or customized program, those conditions will apply in addition to these Terms & Conditions.

12. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS, VISAS & INSURANCE

Students are solely responsible for ensuring that they have all required and valid passports, visas, entry permits and other travel documents necessary to enter and remain in Peru during their stay.

Peru Spanish Lima may provide enrollment or program documentation when appropriate, but cannot guarantee the approval of any visa, entry permit or immigration status.

Students are strongly advised to obtain adequate travel and medical insurance covering the entire duration of their stay in Peru, including medical treatment, emergencies, accidents, personal belongings, trip interruption and cancellation.

Any costs, losses or consequences resulting from insufficient travel documentation, immigration requirements or lack of adequate insurance are the responsibility of the student.

Failure to enter Peru, delayed arrival or inability to participate in the program due to visa, immigration or travel-document issues does not automatically entitle the student to a refund. The applicable Cancellation & Credit Policy will apply.

13. HEALTH INFORMATION

Students are responsible for informing Peru Spanish Lima, before arrival, of any medical condition, allergy, disability or other relevant health information that may require specific arrangements or affect their participation in classes, activities or accommodation.

Peru Spanish Lima will make reasonable efforts to accommodate disclosed needs but cannot guarantee that all medical, accessibility or dietary requirements can be accommodated.

Students are responsible for any medical expenses incurred during their stay in Peru.

14. ACTIVITIES & ADDITIONAL SERVICES

Peru Spanish Lima offers a range of social, cultural and academic activities as part of the student experience.

Activity schedules, availability and content may vary from week to week.

Social activities included in the program cover the organization and coordination of the activity, as well as accompaniment by a Peru Spanish Lima activity coordinator.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, students are responsible for their own transportation, entrance fees, food, drinks and other personal expenses associated with participation.

Optional paid activities, excursions and additional services are subject to availability and any specific booking or cancellation conditions communicated at the time of reservation.

Peru Spanish Lima reserves the right to modify, reschedule or cancel an activity when necessary due to weather, minimum participation, provider availability, safety considerations or circumstances beyond the school’s reasonable control.

15. CODE OF CONDUCT

  • serious disruption;
  • abusive or disrespectful conduct toward students, staff, hosts or service providers.

Students are responsible for the full cost of any loss or damage to school, accommodation or third-party property caused by them.

Peru Spanish Lima reserves the right to issue a warning, restrict participation in activities or services, require a student to leave accommodation, or terminate a student’s program in cases of serious or repeated misconduct.

Where a student’s program or accommodation is terminated due to a serious breach of these Terms & Conditions or the Code of Conduct, no refund or credit will be issued for unused services.

Peru Spanish Lima reserves the right to take immediate action, without prior warning, where a student’s conduct presents a reasonable risk to the safety or wellbeing of other students, staff, hosts, providers or the student themselves.

16. LIABILITY & FORCE MAJEURE

Liability

Peru Spanish Lima is committed to providing the services described in the student’s booking confirmation and these Terms & Conditions.

Peru Spanish Lima is not responsible for losses, damages, injuries, delays or additional expenses arising from circumstances outside the reasonable control of the school, or from actions, omissions or decisions made by third-party providers.

Students are responsible for their personal belongings, travel arrangements, personal expenses and any additional costs incurred during their stay in Peru.

  • political unrest, strikes or transportation disruptions;
  • acts of terrorism or security-related events;
  • interruption or failure of essential services;
  • other circumstances that could not reasonably have been foreseen or prevented by Peru Spanish Lima.

In the event of force majeure, Peru Spanish Lima will make reasonable efforts to minimize the impact on students and, where possible, provide alternative arrangements or solutions.

Force majeure events do not automatically entitle students to refunds or compensation. Any refund, credit or alternative arrangement will be considered based on the specific circumstances of the situation.

17. PHOTOGRAPHY, MEDIA & PERSONAL DATA

During their program, students may be photographed or recorded while participating in classes, activities, events or other Peru Spanish Lima experiences.

Peru Spanish Lima may use such photographs, videos or testimonials for educational, promotional and communication purposes, including the school’s website, social media channels, brochures and other marketing materials.

Students who do not wish to appear in promotional materials may notify Peru Spanish Lima in writing before or during their program, and reasonable efforts will be made to respect this request.

Customized programs, university programs, institutional groups, corporate courses and bookings made through partner agencies may be subject to specific agreements, schedules, payment terms, cancellation policies or other conditions established between Peru Spanish Lima and the respective organization.

In case of conflict between these Terms & Conditions and the specific written agreement for a customized or group program, the terms of the specific agreement will apply.
